Anyone who knows me knows I am not the type to meditate. But my new thing is to do as many things that make me uncomfortable as possible. Hence this blog!!
Meditation is at the top of my list for uncomfortable. Is this really going to help? If I had a nickel for how many times I have been told you should meditate – it’s so helpful. Helpful? Really? All I do is think about all the things I should be doing. Like; cleaning my house, making cold calls, doing laundry, reorganizing my closets, and, omg, I did not call Deb back!! You get it – on and on. How do people do this?
Well, I want to do it. I just can’t get it done. I have bought books on meditation but have yet to get through them.
Then, totally unexpected – dare I say…the universe was looking out for me. I got a random text from the BeWell Fitness studio near my home inviting me to a guided meditation.
I thought, is that a thing? Ok, I’ll give it a whirl. I went with my neighbor Shawna and let me tell you… I was inspired because my head felt so clear afterward. After that class, I found and downloaded the app “Calm,” paid for it (another out of my comfort zone – pay for an app, come on now), and began using it.
I love it! Guided meditations and all kinds of other healthy mental stuff.
Each morning I do the daily guided meditation to start the day. I am making it my practice. It brings a feeling of peace to my life that I need. What I love is that at any time, if I am overwhelmed or need some inspiration, I can tap and listen. Your mind really clears, making room for new and creative ideas.
What’s next? – dare I say YOGA!
